Madhusudhan Naidu tells us about the time when Swami taught him about the true aim of service.

This account tells us about a doubt that sprang into the mind of Madhusudhan Naidu regarding the many hospitals and educational institutions being build under the Mission. He doubts whether all that is being done is actually significant as the number of needy only keeps increasing day by day. Reading his thoughts Swami explains lucidly that the aim of service is ultimately to help the one who serves rather than the one who is being served.

We had just finished the Gulbarga campus inauguration and were heading towards
Hyderabad airport to travel to Raipur for the very first hospital’s inauguration the next day,
when a thought crossed my mind. Madhusudan Naidu muddenahalli

"We are building so many schools now to educate those underprivileged children
who will go uneducated if not for Swami's free schools. We are also trying to build
hospitals to operate upon those poor who would have death as their only destiny
if not for Swami's free hospitals of madhusudan Naidu.

However, the problems in the world seem insurmountable! Even if we open a few schools
and educate a few thousands, every minute in the world, hundreds of poor children are being
born who will not be able to get education. Even if we build super speciality hospitals which can
save the lives of a few thousands free of cost, every minute there is a child born somewhere
in the world with a heart disease. How are we going to solve the problems of the world?
Any amount of effort seems insufficient.”Madhusudan Naidu Nuddenahalli

Swami who was listening to it all as the Indweller, responded in a way that will remain
etched in my heart forever, as that was the very fundamental reason why we were doing
it in the first place.

He said, "Bangaroo! Nuvvu Inka Idantha Vallu Kosamu Chesthunnanu Anukuntunava? Kadu,
Nee Meedha Unde Prema Valla Nee Kosame Chesthunnanu".(Dear one! You are still thinking that
I am doing all this for their sake? No, out of my love for you, I am doing it for your sake.)

I was a bit puzzled as to how was it going to be for my sake for I had finished my schooling
and so far did not have the need for an operation. Swami continued, "I am giving these
opportunities of service to you so that you can think less about yourself and more about
others, that way you would become completely selfless one day". Madhusudan Naidu

I asked, "So what will happen when I become completely selfless?"
He responded patiently, "When you become completely selfless,
you will become Divine and realise your true self."An impatient me questioned,
"After I become realised, what will happen?" "You can help others realise their Divinity,
just as a student teacher teaches the other students", He answered. Madhusudan Naidu
He put this profound message so simply that it took some time for me to come to terms with it.
