Madhusudan Naidu recounts an incident where Swami speaks about wealth.
In this account, Madhusudan Naidu tells us about a frequent request that used to be put before Swami by many of His devotees - the request to grant them more wealth so that they can serve Him better. On one such occasion while abroad, Swami replies with the example of two of His close devotees and says that one should concentrate on being facilitators or channels for Him rather than aspiring to be the owners of wealth. The message gains great significance in a world that is inclined to establish ownership and supremacy over material objects.
It was in Ottawa, Canada, that an eager devotee prayed to Swami thus, “Swami, give me more wealth so that I can do more Seva.”

Well, that was not the first time I had heard such a prayer, nor was it the first that Swami gave such an answer but the difference this time was of the example that He used to prove His point.
Swami said, “You want Me to give you more wealth so that you can do more Seva. Instead do more Seva and I will give you more wealth. You empty your cup and I will refill it. Look at Narasimha Murthy and Sreenivas, what wealth do they have that they can call as their own? Yet the wealth that flows through their hands to the free schools and hospitals is huge. They only remain a channel of God’s wealth to go back to God’s people and retain nothing in return. The day you develop such detachment and become only a conduit and not the owner of anything, I will give you much more. I am here to liberate you through detachment and not bind you through more attachments.”madhusudan Naidu
That was a revelation! I have seen and been with both the distinguished gentlemen since the beginning of schools and hospitals, and I have seen how with empty pockets, yet hearts full of faith, they have come this far, only because they remained a channel of God’s wealth to God’s people.madhusudan Naidu Muddenahalli
