Madhusudan Naidu recalls Swami's teachings on communication with God.

In this account, Madhusudan Naidu takes us to a Yajna that was conducted in 2015.
Swami speaks about the different forms of communication with God - feelings, thoughts, words and
actions. He explains that feelings are the purest form of communication. He brings out the fact that
all are not capable of using this channel of communication. Yajnas and other actions are
done for those who cannot achieve communion with God through feelings. Swami quotes the
legacy of the Vedas to substantiate this. Just as feelings lead to thoughts, words and action,
so the reverse can also happen.

Communication To Communion

During the very first Athi Rudra Maha Yajna that was conducted in Sathya Sai Grama in October 2015,
Swami spoke extensively about the purpose of the Yajna and such rituals in today’s times.
While having dinner one evening, He continued the thread of conversation, when He said that the
purest form of communication is feelings, lower than that is thoughts, lower than thoughts is words
and the lowest of all is actions.madhusudan naidu muddenahalli

“First, the feeling of devotion arose in sages, which made them think of God and His attributes, then
came out the words in the form of Vedas and finally the rituals to please Him. Since all can't
understand feelings, according to their capacities we need to conduct such activities for their benefit.”

I remembered what I had read about the Vedas where the Mantras or Riks have been received by the Rishis in their state of union with the Divine. These visions and experiences that emanated as feelings, were eventually articulated in words and gradually were used in the rituals like Yajna, to invoke that particular Deity’s grace. It was also said that just as the vision of the Deity by the sage resulted in the Mantra, in the same way chanting of the Mantra by any seeker can result in the vision of the Deity.

For us who could not have had the experience first, Swami had compassionately organised these
rituals with sacred chants so that we could eventually evolve to experience that reality.
Could it be made any simpler than this? I wondered.

As I was still lost in my thoughts, Swami, somewhat pensive, spoke, “I have been speaking the same
thing for the last 80 years, yet you don’t change. I keep saying what I have been saying because you
keep doing what have you been doing. You don’t change nor do I.”

I realised how much effort He has been putting to help us change and evolve. Isn’t it time that we
change and spare Him the effort of speaking the same things again and again?
May all this communication lead to communion.
